Since the construction of these rock cascades in Batu River and Gombak River near Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) in the late 1980s, they were said to be the main culprits whenever flood occurred in the vicinity of PWTC.
These rivers cannot be widen further due to space constraint, the only way to enable the flood flow to bypass these rock cascades is to provide bell-mouth spillways at the upstream of these rock cascade to intercept the excess flow and bring the water to the downstream via a conduit underground.

With these structures, we don't need to touch those rocks in the rivers. The whole area is very beautiful but too quite to be safe. Don't forget this is Kuala Lumpur, anything can happen.

After you told me about this over the phone. The issue of safety immediately came to my mind.Especially in future when the Sg. gombak is improved and many activities are happening along the river.
