Merdeka - Feeling sad
After 21 years of writing ideas, criticisms and advice for Malaysians, Malays and those in power in academic, religious and political institutions, I have no more to give. Malaysia is on a certain road of destruction with the Malay Muslims driving it to the ground.

Dow - Bearish Friday due to trade retaliations
Dow (25,628)
Dow completed its mini wave 2 with a a-b-c corrective wave and started its mini wave 3 with 623 points or 2.37% plunge on Friday after China's announcement to impose tariffs ranging from 5% to 10% on US$75 billion U.S. goods in two batches effective 1 September and 15 December in retaliation to US's early August imposition of 10% tariff on US$300 billion worth of Chinese goods. To China's announcement on Friday, US President Donald Trump hit back with an additional tariff of 5% from imports from China.
FBMKLCI (1,609)
KLCI continued with its wave v of (iii) formation.

A long way to go
Dow (25,886)
Despite the volatility in last few trading days, Dow continues its way to form the wave i of E of 8. If wave i can stop at around 24,800 level and can follow by a strong rebound, it is possible that Dow may form a 'head and shoulder' reversal pattern before going for its wave iii's drop to 21,000 or 20,000 level to complete its major wave 8. Still a long way to go.
FBMKLCI (1,599)
KLCI will continue with its sub-wave v formation next week.

Looked Pessimistic
Dow (26,287)
Very likely Dow will start to form the mini wave 3 of its wave i of E in the coming week. Wave E of the major wave 8 is likely to end somewhere near the 21,000 level.
The only consolation is to look beyond the major wave 8 where the major wave 9 has a potential target of 34,000. From 21,000 to 34,000 is a 62% gain.

Jawi & Khat - What is the Problem ? - Part 2
As I have explained in my previous post, if the British didn't replace the Arabic script with the Latin alphabet in the 17th century and if the National Langue Acts 1963 didn't specified Rumi script as the script of the National Langue, Jawi would be the script used in all Malaysian school today. Then the introduction of Khat as part of the year 4 Bahasa Melayu syllabus starting next year is not an issue as all to the non-Malay. Many people might not even notice its introduction at all.
But, since the Rumi script is the script for Bahasa Malaysia, and all the non-Malay children at present are happily studying the Rumi script Bahasa Malaysia. The sudden introduction of an alien-looking Khat into their heavy curriculum is a shocking thing. And since the Jawi script has been relegated to religious, cultural (Malay) and administrative purpose, some non-Muslim subconsciously may link Jawi or Khat to Islam. But to link Jawi, Khat or Arabic to Islam is just like linking English to Christianity. It is totally wrong.
Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz said that Khat Calligraphy as an elective subject is fine as some people are into fine arts. "Do not make it as though we are making you learn Khat, it is the most silly thing to do." "Don't overload the current education system with unnecessary, frivolous subjects."
Some said Tan Sri Rafidah can be a better education minister than Maszlee. There are many believed that Mazlee is simply the wrong man for the job.
The main tasks of Maszlee is to transform dismal and dysfunctional education system into a world class education system and to restructure the existing system to promote national unity. Instead of focusing on improving the education system, his introduction of Khat Calligraphy that has no impact at all in improving the declining education system, has landed Pakatan Harapan in a difficult position and at the same time has given UMNO/PAS some bullets to use.

Jawi & Khat - What is the problem?
Jawi Inscriptions on an Ancient Gravestone
When Islam arrived in Southeast Asia during the 14th century, Jawi (جاوي) an Arabic script was adapted to write Malay language. Until today, Jawi is one of the two official scripts in Brunei. In Malaysia Jawi was once the standard scrip for the Malay language. According to Kamus Dewan, Jawi is a term synonymous to 'Malay'.
In the 17th century, under influence from the Dutch and British, Arabic script (Jawi) was replaced by the Latin alphabet. But Jawi continued to be used as an alternative script in Malaysia.
In 1963, with the implementation of the National Langue Acts 1963, it was spelt out clearly that the script of the national langue shall be the Rumi script under clause 9.
Jawi since then has been slowly relegated to to a script used for religious, cultural and some administrative purpose.
Click 'Tulisan Jawi : History' for further reading.
If the British didn't replace the Arabic script with Latin alphabet in the 17th century and if the National Langue Acts 1963 had specified Jawi instead of the Rumi script as the official script of the national langue, the Bahasa Malaysia today would be Jawi and all school children including those in the Chinese and Tamil school would be taught in Jawi too, so what is the problem?
In the Middle East, irrespective of race and religion, all locals are communicating in Arabic, no problem. They wish each other يوم جيد that is 'Good Day' in Arabic. No problem, they still maintained their respective race and religion including the Jew, the Christian, the Hindu and the Arabic speaking Chinese and Indian.

Dow - Wave E started.
Dow (26,485)
Dow dropped 713 points or 2.6% in the last three days. Is this confirmed to be the starting of the more than 20% wave E correction?
Dow is a bit tricky because its major wave 8 takes the form of an 'expanding triangles'. However if we look at the Russell 2000 - an index for small caps - which typically related to economic growth, its major wave 8 is a simple 3-3-5 ABC corrective wave. Its major wave 7's peak coincide with Dow's wave B of 8.
At this moment it has started forming its wave iii of C with 3 days of drops (-3.3%) in a row.
If the magnitude of wave C is the same as that of A with drop of 25.7%. wave C is likely to end at 1,200 level.
According to Gary Shilling, an America financial analyst, known for correctly predicting bubbles like the sub-prime of 2008, he said in June, "I think we're probably already in a recession, but I think it will probably be a run-of-the-mill affair, which means real GDP would decline 1.5% to 2%, not the 3.5% to 4% you had in the very serious recession."
From the Dow's 119-Year long term chart, after completing its major wave 8, there is still a major wave 9 that can bring Dow to 34,000 level to complete its super wave VII.
FBMKLCI (1,626)
KLCI continues to zig-zag downwards to complete its wave C of (6).
