CLSA Feng Shui Index for the 2020 'Metal Rat' Year

CLSA, formerly Credit Lyonnais Securities Asia has published its CLSA Feng Shui Index for the 2020 'Metal Rat' year.

The chart covers period from 25 January 2020 to 11 February 2021. According to the chart, Hang Seng Index is expected to stay above its 24 January 2020's closing value of 27,949 for the next 12 months and is expected to close the 'Metal Rat' year at its high for the year. It is going to be a very good year for the Hong Kong stock exchange.

I have made a comparison between the Hang Seng Index in 2019 with respect to the CLSA 2019 Feng Shui Index as shown below.

Except for month 5, 6 and 7, for the rest of the nine months, the actual movement of the Hang Seng Index in 2019 was out of phase with the CLSA 2019 Feng Shui Index. For month 9 and 10, the shape of the Hang Seng Index is quite similar to that of the Feng Shui Index but unfortunately the Hang Seng remained in the negative territory where the Feng Shui Index were in the positive territory.

Let's watch the Hang Seng Index for the coming 12 months and find out whether it will move in tandem with the CLSA Feng Shui index.

Starry Starry night

At 12 midnight in Kuala Lumpur, at this time of the year, when you look up at the night sky you can see one of the most prominent and best known constellation, the Orion, the mighty hunter, accompanied by his two dogs, Canis Major and Canis Minor, facing the charging Bull, Taurus.

Orion constellation has 5 very bright stars. The red Betelgeuse marks his right shoulder. The blue Rigel marks his left foot. Sirius, the dog star, is the principal star in Canis Major, the Greater dog. Sirius is the brightest star among the 5. Procyon of Canis Minor, the Little Dog, forms an almost equilateral triangle with Sirius and Betelgeuse, commonly knows as the 'Winter Triangle'. The red Aldebaran is the red eye of the Bull, the Taurus.

The Year of the Metal Rat (庚子)

According to Joey Yap, in the year of the 'Metal Rat' (庚子)(25 January 2020 to 11 February 2021), the strongest element is 'Earth', a non-moving (like a mountain), save and steady element mean it is going to be a sluggish year. If recession does happen, it will probably be at the end of the year. "Be careful of 2021, the year of 'Metal Ox' (辛丑), because I think that year will be a bit messy." he said.

Referring to the 'Flying Star' for 2020, he said the best location at home is the North-West and the West where wealth, prosperity and happiness are located. Try to spend more time or have your daily activities such as reading, planning, discussion, playing games at these locations. Motion and noises can help to activate these sectors.

2020 Flying Star Chart

The annual 2020 flying star chart will come into effect on 4 February 2020, the day of 'Li Chun' (立春 ). It will last until 2 February 2021, a day before the next 'Li Chun' which is on 3 February 2021.

It is interesting to note that the Chinese New Year for 2020, the 'Metal Rat' year, will begin on 25 January 2020 and will last until 11 February 2021 before the starting of the 2021 Chinese New Year on 12 February 2021 (Metal Ox year), and within this period there will be two 'Li Chun' plus a 'leap Forth Month' (闰四月) (Lunar calendar has 13 months and a double forth month for this 'Metal Rat' year). Some elderly Chinese believed that this is a very auspicious year for getting married and for giving birth.

Back to the flying star chart, the bad sectors for the 'metal rat' year are the Southern sector (3 killings plus sickness), Eastern sector (Five yellow plus bad luck and misfortune), Northern sector (Tai Sui plus dispute and quarrel) and the center sector (litigation and gossip).

Good sectors for 2020 are the 1(NE), 4(SW), 6(SE), 8(NW) and 9(W). The general advice is to keep the bad sectors quiet and inactive. So no renovation, construction or earthwork in these sectors. Try to minimize human activities plus noises within these sectors also. To activate the good sectors, try to energize them by having more activities, more noises, spending more times in these area. Wealth is at the North-West, romance at the North-East, prosperity and happiness is at the West. Academic is at the South-West and career and authority are at the South-East. Different feng shui sifu will have different way to minimize or amplify the impact/effect of various sectors.

Dow - How high it can go

Dow (29,348)

Dow is on the major wave 9 of its mega wave VII. If this mega wave VII has only nine major waves, the next pullback will be the mega wave VIII correction, a more than 50% correction to a possible low of 18,000 level.

By assuming the major wave 9 to have the same magnitude as that of the major wave 7 of around +70%, major wave 9 is likely to end at around 37,000 level.

A crucial question here is whether the mega wave VII is going to have only nine major waves or it is going to have more than nine major waves. If it is going to have more than nine major wave than the correction after major wave 9 is a 15% major wave 10 correction to be followed by major wave 11, 12 and 13 to reach another possible ending point for the mega wave VII at the end of major wave 13.

FBMKLCI (1,588)

My reading for FBMKLCI remained the same as what I have mentioned in my previous posting. KLCI is not yet ready for a bull run, it needs time to finish the wave C of its mega wave (6) before starting its mega wave (7) bull run. KLCI will be lagging behind the Dow and the rest of the markets. Do remember, KLCI is the only market ended in red in 2019.

Advance Synergy Bhd (Rm 0.155)

ASB reached an intra-day high of 17.5 sens before ending the day at 15.5 sens with very high volume of 41.3 million shares traded.

From its 20-year chart, ASB has its bottom in 2008. Since then, it has so far completed its mega wave (1)-(2), its major wave 1-2 and its wave (i)-(ii). The next run-up is likely to be the major wave 3 of its mega wave (3).

Today's surge with high volume accompanied by an OBV breakout is likely to be the sub-wave iii of wave (iii) of major wave 3 of of mega wave (3)

It is very unlikely that ASB were to drop back to 12 sens again, it is more likely to continue to move higher in the coming weeks. But in case, due to some reason, ASB does moving lower again to retest the 12 sens level, the only explanation I can offer is an a-b-c wave (ii) formation. But it is very rare to have such a high volume for wave b.

ASB announced on 8 November 2019 that the proposed disposal of a piece of property in Daerah Petaling for Rm124 million was completed.

Fintec Global Bhd (Rm0.05)

The most valuable asset of Fintec at this moment is his holding of 511.84 million shares of Focus Dynamics Group Bhd that has a market value of Rm335 million or 44.7 sens for each Fintec share. At 5 sens, Fintec's market capitalization is only Rm37 million. Looking at Focus 14-Year chart, it is currently forming the wave (iii) of its major wave 3 of its mega wave (3), it is expected to move higher to complete its wave (iii) soon before its wave (iv) correction.

Fintec's chart is less bullish despite of its strong assets. It has to move lower to complete the wave (v) of C of (2) before starting its mega wave (3).

Dow Continued with its Major wave 9

Dow (28,823)

Despite of the US-Iran tension, Dow continued with its major wave 9 formation.

If the mega wave VII has only nine waves, I am looking at 34,000 level. However it is also possible that mega wave VII may have more than nine waves. 

FBMKLCI (1,591)

As I have mentioned before, KLCI is either on its sub-wave vii and will continue to move lower.

Or it is on its wave (iv) if it can break its upper resistance level and move higher in the next few weeks before its final down, the wave (v), to complete the wave C and the mega wave (6).

Insas Bhd (Rm 0.88)

It is likely that Insas is on the wave (iii) of its major wave 3.

Crude Oil (WTI) (US$62.98)

Crude oil prices surged on Tuesday after Iran fired multiples missiles at US airbase in Iraq raising fears of a wider Middle East conflict.

Looking at the long-term monthly chart for crude oil (WTI) price, after hitting a low of US$50.99 in October 2019, crude oil prices have been moving up steadily forming the mini wave 3 of wave iii of D. The wave D is likely to end in 2021.

FBMKLCI - Ended 2019 in the red

Bursa Malaysia ended 2019 with FBMKLCI in the red. It is the worst-performing in the Asia Pacific region. A summary of the 2019 performance for some of the Asia Pacific stock markets and some main European markets is as shown below.

Despite of the trade war with the US, China Shanghai SSEC was still able to move up by 22.34% which coincidentally was exactly the same percentage gain by the DJIA.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index gained 9.07% despite of the riots and demonstration since June.

Malaysia FBMKLCI ended with 6.04% in the red. Very bad, even Vietnam can gain 7.62% and the Philippines gained 4.67%.

For FBMKLCI to be able to catch up with the rest of the markets in 2020 the new PH government has to spend more time on improving the economy and administration rather than fighting over issues related to race, religion and ketuangan.

Happy New Year

Dow (28,538)

Dow ended the last trading day of 2019 at 28,538. For the whole of 2019, it gained 5,211 points or 22.33% despite of the US-China trade war.

By accepting the low of 21,792 on 24 December 2018 as the end of the major wave 8, even though there was only 3 waves for the wave C instead of 5 waves, Dow is expected to continue with the major wave 9 formation in 2020 to a possible high of 34,000 level.

If mega wave VII has only 9 waves, Dow is likely to start its mega wave VIII's 50% correction in late 2020 or early 2021. This major wave VIII correction is likely to take a few years to complete.

But if mega wave VII is going to have more than 9 waves, the next possible turning points is at the end of major wave 13 in 3 to 4 years time. It is safer to assume that mega wave VII has only 9 waves.

FBMKLCI (1,588)

KLCI is either at its wave (iv) formation if it can continue to move higher during first half of 2020.

But if KLCI is unable to move higher in the next few weeks, it will continue its 2019's pattern of movement to zig-zag lower and lower with sub-wave vii, viii and ix to complete the wave (iii) before a stronger wave (iv) rebound.
